Job Description

Raytheon is seeking a Software Engineer to support a cleared program in Hanover, MD. The Software Engineer will be working individually and as part of a team, develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements. Develop novel algorithms. Manipulate large data sets. Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements. Document test results. Resolve software problem reports. Provide system design input regarding software components including hardware/software trade-offs, COTS/GOTS trade-offs, and software reuse. Oversee one or more software development teams.

•Develop, maintain, and enhance a complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.

•Utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provide specific input to the software components of the system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development and perform requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

•Debug existing software and correct defects.

•Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.

•Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
• Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

•Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.

•Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.

•Resolves software problem reports.

Required Skills:
•TS/SCI clearance required

•8+ years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.

•At least 3 years in computer programming (C and/or C++) for signals analysis or Digital Signals Processing (DSP) applications.

•RF programming experience and proven technical ability to improve competency, or stay current, to support future programming efforts.

Desired Skills:
•TS/SCI Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph

•C++ programming experience preferred

•Software development experience working with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) preferred.

•Software development experience working with Software Defined Radios (SDR) preferred.

•Experience in signals analysis, programming automatic processing algorithms (pipeline processing of streaming signals), detecting/processing negative SNR signals, detecting/processing signals in the presence of severe interference.

•FPGA/VHDL programming experience and proven technical ability to improve competency, or stay current, to support future programming efforts.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
