Leidos has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer to support the Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA) program. The successful candidate will support the PCAPP Field Office (FO) Project Manager by providing static, dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages.
This position Frequently interacts with customers and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
The successful candidate will perform engineering document reviews, technical research, and provide technical input associated with site activities to provide the necessary information for the Government to perform their oversight mission. Perform project related engineering activities as specified by the Government Site Project Manager or Government Subject Matter Expert for the functional area. The following activities are included as typical work effort: 1. Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) and provide technical input to the Government pertaining to the justification of the ECP, cost and schedule impacts, and configuration management requirements.
2. Support the Government during Government only configuration control board meetings and provide technical input to assist the Government in resolving technical issues.
3. Maintain a searchable ECP log, such as an MS Excel® spreadsheet.
4. Review Field Change Notices, Field Change Requests, Design Change Notices, Supplier Deviation Requests, and NCRs and PEO ACWA Systemization, Operations, and Closure Support Contract
5. Provide technical input to the Government to assist the Government in evaluating whether the PCAPP design documentation is in compliance with the accepted design and the constructed facility.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years’ experience with mechanical systems associated with a chemical demilitarization or equivalent chemical processing facility
3+ years specialized experience in robotic handling and processing of hazardous materials, hydraulic systems, or HVAC systems
Ability to be approved for a government security clearance
5+ years’ experience with mechanical systems associated with high hazard chemical or petrochemical processing plant
3+ years specialized experience in fluid transfer (Pumps, piping, corrosion) robotic handling and processing of hazardous materials, hydraulic systems, or HVAC systems
