The Advanced Solutions Group (ASG) at Leidos currently has an opening for a Chief Engineer to work in our San Diego, CA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping our ISR/CBRN Division. The Lead System / Chief Engineer candidate is responsible for supporting applied research and engineering in the development of solutions and products in the fields of radiation imaging, and nuclear detection instrumentation.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Acts as senior engineering, scientific, and management staff. - Leads product requirements capture, prototype design, development, assembly and testing, data collection/analysis, field testing, modeling/simulation, and documentation activities. - Works closely with the science and manufacturing departments to facilitate transition of technology from the research stage to full production.
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below- Must have minimum Bachelors in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics, and 15+ years of industry experience in an R amp;D environment.- A minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility as a technical project lead - Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. - Experience in leading multi-disciplinary advanced research and systems development for organizations like DARPA, IARPA, DTRA, DHS, etc.- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team greater than 10+ employees. - Must show a demonstrated ability to develop new technical concepts for emerging defense and intelligence related needs. - Must be able to work in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment, conduct technical meetings with customers, and brief technical approach and status to senior management. - Dependability, initiative, and ability to solve diverse problems by leveraging company and subcontractor expertise are requirements. - 5-20% travel to customer sites - Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration- Advanced degree in an Engineering or Physics, 15+ years of industry experience in advanced technology development.- Prior management of advanced programs, such as experience in leading as a PI on complex multi-disciplinary advanced research, systems development efforts for organizations like DNDO. - TS/SCI clearance - The applicant should have a demonstrated track record of winning and leading advance technology programs. - Understanding of business capture process - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through presentations ASG/SPOTA_4SanDiegoASG
