Leidos currently has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Level flight dynamics software engineer in our Valley Forge, PA office.
The successful candidate will be performing modeling and simulation of air vehicle trajectories in a six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) framework. Candidate will modify existing air vehicle component models (aerodynamic, propulsion, guidance law, seeker, etc.), integrate new component models into a C++ software framework, and integrate multiple interactive air vehicle flight dynamics models within a heterogeneous software environment.
Candidate will employ ingenuity and creativity to develop and integrate complex flight dynamics software for advanced air vehicle concepts, as well as apply existing flight dynamics software to perform 6DoF analysis.
Candidate will also communicate with Leidos and customer engineers, and interact with Leidos program leadership, team members, and end users. Must develop a clear understanding of program goals and objectives and shape work activities to satisfy them. Must present both verbal and written status on a regular basis, and prepare progress briefings and technical reports on a monthly basis.
The successful candidate must have the following skill set:
A Master’s degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline and 6 plus years’ experience or a Ph.D. degree and 2 plus years’ experience.
Demonstrated experience in 6DoF analysis for missile systems and knowledge of flight dynamics modeling techniques for high speed air vehicle systems.
Knowledge of integration of sensor/seeker output with guidance and control algorithms.
Ability to program in C++ and Matlab/Simulink, as well as the ability to couple Matlab/Simulink and C++ flight dynamics software.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and be eligible to obtain a Secret level clearance within a reasonable period of time, or currently possess an active Secret level Clearance.
Some travel will be required.
Following is desired but not required: Demonstrated experience with trajectory optimization.
