Leidos is seeking a SNCC Senior Cloud Engineer to support a customer in Rockville, MD. As a contract holder on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Global Infrastructure Development Acquisition (GLINDA), we are pursuing upcoming opportunities with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) including Security Operations, End User Computing, Network/Data Center/Cloud Services, and Mobility Services.
The Senior Cloud Engineer will provide deep implementation and configuration expertise associated with an organizations use of cloud services. The cloud engineer will also provide direct analysis and recommendations associated with the implementation or migration of specific applications to cloud services, and work with engineering, service and business teams to create technology roadmaps. The Cloud Engineer will generate innovative ideas, develop proof-of-concepts and rapid prototypes alongside other engineers utilizing pair programming and mobbing techniques, and engineer, consult and upskill other engineers on DevOps and Cloud solutions to include distributed version control and trunk-based development practices, infrastructure automation, monitoring and operations, and a well-architected AWS/Azure infrastructure. The Senior Cloud Engineer will have: • Experience and expertise implementing and maintaining cloud management solutions including initial and ongoing configuration of related automation, notifications, and reporting capabilities • Experience working with a variety of legacy applications and platforms and working with application teams to implement or migrate associated components to cloud services • Experience identifying and troubleshooting cloud service events and issues as well as working with cloud service providers to efficiently solve issues or implement workarounds • The ability to plan and lead an engagement with an application team adopting DevOps and Cloud solutions • The ability to understand software engineering practices and the impact they have on efficient and effective use of DevOps and Cloud solutions • The ability to clearly articulate and explain complex concepts and technologies to a non-technical audience • The ability to function in a rapidly evolving environment and adapt to frequent transitions in technologies and teams • Strong analytical, interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the dynamic nature of collaborations with customers, vendors, and other engineering teams, solving complex system problems together • Work with Engineering, Infrastructure Services, and Application Development organizations to choose appropriate technology solutions and facilitates complete integration into the Agency environments. • Develop standards in partnership with Engineering, Infrastructure Services, and Application Development • Develop and execute strategies to increase Cloud Security knowledge throughout the enterprise, as well as developing and mentoring more-junior security analysts and engineers • Develop and refine global information security technical standards and guidelines • Support the engineering requirements of Legacy/On-Prem enterprise applications and develop Cloud migration solutions •Troubleshoot and problem solve to remediate issues prohibiting migration or uncovered by migration
- Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of relevant experience.
- In depth knowledge of VMWare, HP, VCE, Citrix, Dell Systems and other major vendors of infrastructure technology
- At least 5 years’ experience with DevOps and hybrid Cloud solution
- At least 10 years’ with large-scale infrastructure designs, implementation, and support
- AWS or Azure DevOps Certified
- 5+ years’ using cloud based hosting solutions (AWS-EC2/ECS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- 5+ years’ developing automation workflows and routines, using Open Source Tools or Vendor Based Tools
- 10+ years’ experience with large-scale software implementation (high transaction volume, high-availability concepts)
- 5+ years’ experience with Linux, server automation and scripting
