The Health Products and Solutions Operation currently has an opening for a Network Engineer to support a large healthcare contract in Rockville, MD. This position is contingent on contract award.
Provide network engineering services to supporting the electronic transport of data across the customer-managed infrastructure and/or that of external third parties
Plan, design, and develop/integrate aspects of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. This includes engineering support for the following customer-managed network components: Data Network; Remote Access; Voice Services; Security Services, New Site Installation Services, 3rd Party Network Access Services, Wireless Access Services, and Mobility VPN Access Services.
Collaborate with third party network carriers and vendors, and other industry leaders, on an initial and ongoing basis to develop and establish the most favorable, cost-effective strategic direction for voice technology for the customer
Develop (or update existing) and deliver network architecture documentation.
Develop and deliver a network asset refresh plan.
Submit capacity and trending analysis for network infrastructure.
Develop and submit impact analyses and associated plans.
Develop (or update existing) and submit standards for network cable plant to include wiring standards, fiber standards, terminations, face plates, cable run, cable type.
Develop and submit plans for site additions or deletions upon request.
Design and support the implementation of the network architecture based on approved documentation.
Design, configure, and support the deployment of government-furnished network assets based on the approved refresh plan; deliver monthly status report.
Design and support the implementation of changes to the network infrastructure based on the results of the capacity and trending analysis.
Design and support the implementation of changes to the network infrastructure based on impact analyses and associated plans.
Design and support the implementation of approved recommendations on maintaining the network cable plant to industry standard.
Support the implementation of network cable plant standards.
Design and support the implementation of network devices to meet customer availability requirements.
Design and implement Site additions or deletions
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and six (6) years of general experience. Six (6) years of general experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. With a Master’s degree, four (4) years of general experience is required. With a PhD, two (2) years of general experience is required.
Desired Certifications - CCNP, CCDP
Desired Skills -
o Design, deployment, and troubleshooting experience in large enterprise environments with documented, successful implementations.
o Skills in routing / switching: Cisco Datacenter (Nexus, Catalyst products), Cisco ISE, Cisco WLAN, VLANs, Unicast vs Multicast, Management Networks, routing fundamentals, IP subnetting, routing, VPN and network design.
o Experience with logical networking services to include logical switches, logical routers, logical firewalls, logical load balancers, logical VPN, QoS, and distributed security, Network Security Tool and Networking Concepts such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, Load Balancers, Security/Trust Zones, L2 Switching and L3 routing. VLANs, Unicast vs Multicast, Management Networks, routing fundamentals, IP subnetting, routing, VPN and network design.
o Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards (e.g. SNMP); capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network management
o Domain level understanding of Cloud Infrastructure amp; Networking (Data Center Design, Network Architecture, Network Design, System Architecture Virtualization, Systems Management, Security)
