The Defense amp; Intelligence Group has a current opening for an Electrical - Power Engineer for assignment in the Northern Virginia area supporting the U.S. Government. The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. The ideal candidate will have experience in definition and development of power distribution systems, and power and grounding design for high voltage application. The successful candidate will have the ability to to understand end-to-end system implications of power distribution system design; electronic circuit analysis; power system safety and EMI emissions design; high voltage power line cable design, modeling, and analysis; and system integration, testing, and troubleshooting. Further, the candidate should be capable of determining the root cause(s) of operational system performance degradation as well as have the ability to analyze and provide recommendations, develop test plans, oversee testing, and support technical reviews. The position requires some domestic (CONUS) travel.
• Engaged in a variety of challenging engineering projects involving aspects of design, analysis, specification, test, modification, and failure investigation of industrial power systems and equipment• Contributing role in projects covering specification, design or evaluation of electrical power systems• Read and interpret circuit diagrams and electrical schematics• Prepares detailed specifications and flowcharts for implementation of new internal systems or modifications to vendor systems• Evaluation of system or equipment performance against electrical codes and standards
• BS degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience• Minimum of fifteen years of experience in facility development/engineering• Minimum of ten years of experience in requirements development and documentation• Experience in operational/system testing and evaluation (planning and execution)• Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio)• Experience in architecting electromechanical systems• Experience in architecting power distribution systems• Experience in using AUTOCAD
