Leidos currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer in our Shalimar (Eglin), FL office.
Candidate will apply computational fluid mechanics modeling for high speed (hypersonic) weapon systems. Apply grid generation tools and CFD modeling and simulation to determine aerodynamic coefficients, aerothermal environments, and flowfield chemistry to support both conceptual and detailed design and analysis. CFD tools must interface with structures and thermal modeling tools.
Candidate will provide physical explanation and justification of results. Coordinate with the customer ensuring all objectives are met. Prepare written and verbal deliverables, reports and presentations for management and customer review as required by the contract.
Candidate should have the following skill set:
Masters in an Aerospace or Mechanical (or similar) Engineering, Physics or Mathematics, and 8+ years of gridding and CFD experience for fluid dynamics of high speed weapons systems.
Must possess an active SECRET level security clearance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
The applicant must be able to support a team in a collaborative, fast paced, environment. Dependability, initiative, and ability to solve problems both as part of a team and as an individual performer is a must.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; FORTRAN; Matlab; and grid generation software, and engineering level through Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes Computational Fluid Dynamics models.
Following is desired but not required:
Grid generation for deforming structures. Proficiency with the Pointwise gridding software.
