Job Description

The Leidos NISC III program is looking for Engineers with a strong background in energy efficiency, energy audits, building commissioning and report writing to work on a full time basis auditing FAA facilities across the United States and helping with retro commissioning activities. The selected individual will visit customer sites to inspect various FAA facilities across the country and conduct American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Level 2, EISA energy and water consumption audits and review High Performance Sustainable Building (HPSB) compliance. The job also requires the selected individual to identify, document, and evaluate existing conditions, establish an energy consumption baseline, model data, run simulations, quantify energy usage based on functions, benchmark/compare the facility s energy and water consumption with other similar facilities, identify/explore energy saving opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve energy efficiency and water consumption. The individual will coordinate with multiple stakeholders in arranging for the audit, review current and historical energy and water data, walk the facility and conduct the audit; prepare energy assessment studies; complete engineering calculations related to energy savings, identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs), develop cost estimates for the ECMs and provide recommendations based on lifecycle and payback analysis. The selected person shall also be capable of conducting retro commissioning of FAA facilities and developing well-written pre and post project evaluation reports that meet and continuously exceed the customer expectations. Additionally, the individual will also serve as the coordination and contact point for the customer during the implementation and completion of the recommended project opportunities and work with field engineers, contract specialists, and customer to continually meet the energy goals.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Architectural or other relevant field). Significant experience conducting ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audits. Have at least two years of experience in performing Building Systems Design, Building Systems Installation, Building Systems Commissioning, Building Systems Testing, or TAB Experience reviewing systems operating modes, sequence of operations, and specifics of equipment, operations, and maintenance Extensive knowledge in Energy efficiency and water consumption- Means and methods Knowledge of HPSB Guiding Principles and Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) Ability to analyze billing and utility data (post project reviews, rates, weatherization, and anomalies) Ability to develop and review Measurement and Verification (M amp;;V) plans, perform M amp;;V activities and analyze data to determine savings and costs of projects. Ability to review energy efficiency calculations and energy models Experience with modeling/simulation tools such as eQuest, EnergyPro, Trace 700, HAP or similar. Ability to communicate and coordinate with stakeholders (Written and verbal) Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision Command of Technical writing associated with audit reports Ability to use MS Office applications for analysis, documentation and presentations Ability to multi task Professional Engineer (PE) registration, One or more of the following certifications-
  • Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP) from the AEE
  • Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP) from the AEE
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) from the Building Commissioning Association (BCA)
  • Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP) from ASHRAE
  • Accredited Commissioning Process Authority Professional (ACPAP) from the University of Wisconsin
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
  • Certified Measurement amp; Verification Professional, (CMVP) from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
