Job Description

The Advanced Solutions Group (ASG) at Leidos currently has an opening for an enthusiastic Pulsed Power Technician who enjoys working in a vibrant and challenging research environment. You will work at a variety of government customer locations primarily at Kirtland AFB, NM, in laboratory and field settings. Responsibilities will entail constructing and testing pulsed power research projects, which include high power microwave systems, high voltage and high current discharge systems, high power laser systems and related sub-systems.
Roles and Responsibilities: - Leads technical projects and collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data to provide support for engineering analysis. - Creates, builds, assembles, modifies and/or repairs prototypes - Prepares engineering documentation, reports, drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.). - Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications. Undertakes analyses of data where guidelines are provided. - Recommends alternative solutions to problems and obstacles. - Sets-up experiments, conducts tests and records data.
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below - AAS degree in Engineering or Electronics with at least 3 years of applicable experience or 5 years of experience in lieu of degree - US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance - Experience with High Voltage ( gt; 10,000 Volts) - Experience with High Current discharge systems ( gt; 1,000 Amps) - Working knowledge of vacuum systems - Ability to obtain a government security clearance within 6 months of hire - Ability to understand and abide by government safety rules and regulations - Ability to handle unusual and seldom occurring job events with minimal assistance - Willingness to support several different Leidos customers for both short and long term assignments - Possess excellent written and oral communication skills - Competency with standard desktop computer software - Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings - Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair - Experience with oscilloscopes, multi-meters, high voltage power supplies, control systems, network and spectrum analyzers, power meters, and a wide array of time and frequency domain calibration equipment
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration - Active DOD or DOE clearance - Experience with manual machining equipment (mill, lathe, etc.) - Experience with pneumatic systems and controls - Experience with LabView and related instrumentation and control software - Experience working with hazardous chemicals and gases
