Job Description

The Advanced Solutions Group (ASG) at Leidos currently has an opening for an Documentation Specialist to work in our Bridgewater, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience supporting all programs at this location. This position will focus on complete daily IT tasks with an emphasis on writing documentation of the technologies utilized and processes on how to administrate it.Primary ResponsibilitiesUnderstand basic IT theory to include:
  • VMware, Microsoft Operating Systems (OS), networking, wiring diagrams, databases, storage, and software suites
  • Active directory management to include creation of new accounts and placing them into the correct Organizational unit (OU)
  • Assist end users with log-in issues
  • Monitor system health to ensure system is operating efficiently and correctly
  • Quickly learn software suites thoroughly enough to create documentation i.e. white papers, processes, etc.
  • Gather enough information from team members to create thorough documentation
  • Extrapolate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) from information from the engineering team
  • Use industry standards and local templates to create SOPs and diagrams for system administrators and end users
  • Ensure documentation versions are tracked, updated, and that the latest version is available for end users
  • Create and manage a training plan for on-boarding team members
  • Train new team members on how to efficiently traverse the documentation repository
  • Train new team members on processes outline in documentation

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 2 years of experience in writing technical documentation. Additional 3 years of experience in a technical field can be used in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Be able to obtain the Comptia Security+ certification within the first 6 months of employment
  • Be well-organized and pay close attention to detail when writing SOPs
  • Ability to communicate ideas through writing and speech
  • Strong desire to grow and learn new IT technologies
  • Be willing to relocate to our Bridgewater, VA office
  • Be able to obtain a passport and visa to travel internationally
  • Be able to travel to CONUS and OCNUS locations 25% of the year
  • Able to work long, irregular hours in hardship and hazardous locations when OCONUS
  • Must be able to successfully accomplish the CONUS Replacement Center course which requires successful deployment physical, immunizations, and training
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to acquire a TS/SCI
