Job Description

Leidos Corporate Accounting team is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant in Tucson – AZ. The Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and approving balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, assisting with adhoc analysis, balance sheet analysis, refining policies and procedures, preparing presentations, leading functional areas as assigned and supporting other accounting activities as required. Selected responsibilities will be determined based on team workload. The Accountant will also be responsible for training and coaching others within the broader accounting team and providing audit support to internal and external auditors. The Accountant will monitor compliance related to administrative policies, internal controls, accounting policies, etc. The Accountant should possess the skills to identify issues, facilitate meetings with stakeholders and resolve complex accounting matters in a timely manner. The Senior Accountant should have extensive knowledge and strong working experience with GAAP, and will provide policy guidance and support to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting and minimum 8 years of strong experience in Accounting or Master’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 6 years strong experience in Accounting. - Strong knowledge of GAAP, CAS, FASB, and FAR. - Must be self-motivated and willing to independently study concepts and policies with the goal of shortening the learning curve. - Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills - Highly effective verbal and written communication skills - Advanced computer skills including proficient experience with Microsoft Excel, intermediate capabilities with running queries, analyzing large amounts of financial data, and understanding general ledger systems. - Should have a flexible work schedule and the ability and eagerness to work additional hours during surge or accounting close weeks. - Must be a results driven achiever with exemplary planning and organizational skills, and a high degree of detail orientation. Should thrive in an environment requiring ability to effectively prioritize multiple concurrent projects. Desired Qualifications: - CPA and/or public accounting experience within the audit track strongly preferred
