Industrial Outreach Energy Engineer

Leidos seeks an Industrial Outreach Energy Engineer to both market and support energy-efficiency projects with large industries in Northern California for our Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program. Candidates living in the state of California may have the option of working from home. A person in this position will require the ability to identify efficiency opportunities, calculate energy savings, maintain customer relationships, deliver presentations, and energy efficiency project support. The main goal for this work is to support the customer’s implementation of energy saving projects at their facilities. The Outreach Engineer will work directly with staff at large industrial facilities. They will work closely with building owners, facility managers, facility and manufacturing engineers, contractors, suppliers, architects, and energy engineers to encourage energy efficiency practices in new or renovated buildings and systems. The successful candidate should have basic general knowledge of building systems, industrial systems, construction practices, and/or the energy efficiency industry. We are especially interested in candidates that have an expertise with analyzing energy information systems and developing operation changes to reduce energy intensity. Must be highly motivated, well organized, self-starting, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and work well in a team setting.
Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of relevant experience such as with industrial manufacturing, energy programs, the building construction industry, or with energy IT systems is desired. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential. An engineering degree is preferred. This position requires a valid driver’s license and physical ability to perform field verification of pre and post installation of energy efficiency measures.
