Leidos is looking to staff the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) contract for the Provision of Air Traffic Management, and Communications, Navigation and Surveillance maintenance services in Support of Coalition Forces in KANDAHAR, Afghanistan. The Services are to be provided based on an initial confirmed requirement at Kandahar Airfield and is intended to provide a long term contract.
Leidos Technical Services is looking for an Electronics Technician II – ATC Communications, to maintain air traffic control radio and voice communication switching systems at Kandahar, Afghanistan. Typical duties include: Performing preventive maintenance on ATC radio systems and related equipment; Inspecting equipment at specified intervals; replacing defective parts; performing operational checks; maintaining inspection and maintenance records; and Independently verify operational condition of Control Tower Facilities and integrated system to be within prescribed parameters IAW supporting Technical Orders/Manuals or directives. Support NDSatcom VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal), Rohde and Schwartz RF, IF, UHF and VHF radio equipment and a Garex ATC (Air Traffic Control) radio PBX interface over a meshed satellite network.
This position is contingent upon receiving funding for this position under the ATM NATO contract award and upon the candidate completing the International Readiness Certifications process.
US citizen with a Department of Defense SECRET security clearance (selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information). Candidate must also have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in electronics repair, maintenance and testing of ATC Communications systems.
Must be a graduate of a high school or a trade school amp; possess valid US driver’s license with photo.
High School diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics for communications systems or three (3) year electronics apprentice program with experience with the listed system types.
At least five (3) years’ experience with the following:
Performing preventive maintenance on ATC radio systems, VSAT systems, and related equipment (CM-200 Ground to Air Radio, ETVS (BS2) Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch, Liberty Star Voice Switch, PL 2000 DT, and AN/TPN-19 radio equipment (GRC-171 and GRC 211), GRR-23/24, GRT 21/22, PRC-117, RT-1319, TRC-176, and URC-200), and on VSAT systems; inspecting equipment at specified intervals; determining operational status; replacing defective components; performing operational checks; maintaining inspection and maintenance records; independently verifies operational condition of Control Tower Facilities and integrated system to be within prescribed parameters IAW supporting Technical Orders/Manuals or directive (commercial manuals, FAA Orders, etc.)
