The Defense and Intelligence Group is seeking an aerothermal modeling/computational fluid dynamicist to support a client’s requirements in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The candidate must be clearable to TS/SCI with polygraph.
The candidate should have experience with numerical and analytic methods in computational fluid dynamics, and will be expected to independently design and conduct performance modeling of re-entry vehicle (RV) and hypersonic glide vehicles (HGV) heat shields. As such, he or she will be proficient in aerothermal modeling, thermodynamic and heat transfer modeling and ablation codes, and have knowledge of material response and plasma predictions.
Other desired areas of expertise include RV design, manufacturing and operation, knowledge of composite materials and all aspects of RV phenomenology. Must be able to travel overseas at short notice and therefore be able to obtain a valid US passport.
Successful candidates will work well in a team environment and will be capable of operating independently with minimal supervision. Candidates will be expected to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization and communicate effectively with the client.
In addition to the clearance requirement, successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in aero-dermal modeling, thermodynamic and heat transfer modeling and ablation codes. They will be expected to independently design and conduct modeling of RV and HGV heat shield performance. Other desired areas of expertise include RV design, manufacturing and operation as well as a knowledge of composite materials.
