Job Description:
Raytheon Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance Systems (ISRS) business of Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is the provider of integrated system solutions for the Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program (MP-RTIP) for the U.S. Air Force and NATO. The integrated system solutions for MP-RTIP provide the customer with actionable information for strike, persistent surveillance, and special mission applications. The Airborne Early Warning & Reconnaissance Department Engineer is a key contributor to this effort in the execution of MP-RTIP Development, Production and Sustainment programs.

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with the software test planning and execution skills needed to support multiple radar ground station programs for the Sensor Command and Control Solutions team within the Airborne Early Warning & Reconnaissance Systems department.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering support to sensor ground station programs, focusing on software integration, verification, and validation (IV&V)
  • Write and manage software test plans and procedures, including establishing traceability to customer specifications, system and software requirements, and Agile stories
  • Perform hands-on testing of software during Agile sprint demonstrations, incremental builds, and final acceptance testing
  • Support issue tracking and resolution by providing detailed write-ups of software defects and anomalies to the software team
  • Write software test reports capturing outcomes of formal test events
  • Create deliverable documentation conforming to company engineering standards and contract requirements
  • Work with software engineering team during design and test activities
  • Work with other specialty engineering teams, including security systems engineering, to ensure complete system test coverage
  • Ensure that cost and schedule commitments are being met
  • Work proactively to complete tasks with limited oversight and direction


Required Experience:

  • 2 or more years systems engineering experience with a focus on software integration and test
  • Experience using Linux, Solaris, or other UNIX operating system-Linux strongly preferred
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Proven experience creating high-quality documentation in accordance with Government standards
  • Proven ability to work productively with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to ask good questions and rapidly acquire domain knowledge from team members and experts
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher security clearance prior to commencing work
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment


Desired Experience:

  • More than 2 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Domain knowledge about Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS)
  • Domain knowledge about intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) imaging sensors carried aboard U-2 and/or Global Hawk platforms
  • Domain knowledge about mission planning, particularly sensor planning
  • Experience supporting a software development or maintenance program using Agile or Scrum methodologies, preferably in a Product Owner role
  • Formal training and/or certifications in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience using Atlassian Confluence and/or Jira software
  • Experience with human factors engineering (HFE) for software systems, including familiarity with MIL-STD-1472G requirements
  • Experience developing software using Java, C, and/or C++
  • Cybersecurity experience or domain knowledge, specifically in the areas of National Security Systems (NSS) and/or DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Current certifications which satisfy the DoD 8570.01-M IA Technical (IAT) Level II requirements
  • Ability to represent the company to customers in a highly professional manner through email, teleconferences, and in-person presentations
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance, or ability to obtain such a clearance
  • Active SCI clearances relevant to AF DCGS, or ability to obtain such clearances


Required Education: B.S. Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field

Desired Education: M.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
