The SDC is seeking Systems Engineers to provide Systems Engineering production support/product development and Systems Engineering design expertise for complex production systems in Huntsville, AL. The candidate will support test requirements development, integration and verification testing, data analysis and factory testing of flight test vehicles and production. The Systems Engineer is responsible for:

Developing system test requirement

Developing system architecture and design

Reviewing test plans and procedures

Developing and influencing test objectives collaboratively with HIL, TSSC and Systems leads on the respective programs

Performing as a member of integration and/or field test teams for: missile builds and data analysis, qualification testing, design verification testing, hardware integration, aircraft integration, and flight testing.

Reviewing and analyzing acceptance data for both lab and field test activities

Supporting root cause and corrective action analysis as required

Providing proposal support including writing of Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

Ability and comfort presenting to audiences at various levels is also expected. The Senior Systems Engineer will frequently interact with multidisciplinary teams of system and design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software, system performance, integration, test, and specialty engineers, as well as supply chain, operations, and quality.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance. An Interim Clearance is required to start

  • BS in Engineering, Systems, Math, or Physics – graduated 18 months or more ago

  • Experience with systems engineering or related experience with exposure to more than one of the following lifecycle phases: subsystem or system architecture development, requirements analysis and development; system performance analysis; integration and verification; test; and production support

  • Applied technical work experience in architectural, systems design, test and integration in one of the following engineering disciplines: Systems; Electrical; Software; Signal Processing; or Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis

  • Knowledge of test methodologies and test requirement development

  • Knowledge of environmental test methods and practices

  • Experience giving technical briefs or presentations after synthesizing or generating technical materials from multidisciplinary sources is preferred

Desired Education, Experience and Skills:

  • MS or higher in aforementioned disciplines preferred

  • Experience in requirement management using Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)

  • Matlab and/or C++ experience

  • Ability to visualize system functionality, to create accurate system models, and to analyze system performance

  • Ability to logically analyze issues and define solutions

  • Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance

  • Able to perform successfully in an environment with frequent and direct interaction with customers and peers

  • Able to work well in diverse teams across multiple programs

  • Able to travel to domestic field sites on occasion

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience in writing proposals and developing business cases

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
