As the Staff Threat Analyst, your primary role will be to conduct threat assessments in support of sensitive police operations to ensure maximum safety for all involved parties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • The goal of this analysis is to provide police commanders, detectives and officers with actionable intelligence on targeted criminals and their environments so informed tactical decisions can be made • You will specifically be responsible for advanced intelligence-based crime analysis work in a collaborative effort to achieve the departmental mission to protect the served communities and reduction of crime • Participate as a team member performing threat analyses based on knowledge extracted from intelligence systems/criminal databases and concepts • Contribute to the development of analytical threat models. Work activities are performed under general guidelines and direction • Support team while performing research and analysis of intelligence and related data support of threat studies • Provide case support to detectives and handle sensitive law enforcement material • Confer and collaborate with other crime/intelligence analysts, detectives and police supervisors to ensure consistency and accuracy in the creation of data • Gather and synthesize data and prepare brief reports and comprehensive threat assessments related to a variety of departmental units to include the Narcotics Division, Criminal Intelligence Unit and Gang Intelligence Unit • May be asked to perform other analytical tasks at the request of command or an operational supervisor based on the needs of the division, but this should occur infrequently Position Requirements: • Requires Bachelor's degree in related discipline and two to four years of law enforcement/intelligence experience Statistical analysis; preferred three years of experience performing work in a crime analyst capacity • Any other post college work that includes documented proficiency in conducting advanced analysis, preferably in a criminal justice or law enforcement setting and summarizing findings and conclusions, both orally and in writing • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in small team settings are also deemed important qualifications • The dynamic and sometimes unpredictable nature of police work sometimes requires individuals to work irregular hours to include evenings and weekends and on short notice at times. Although not the norm, some schedule flexibility may be required with this position • Experience using automated crime analysis systems • Experience accessing online data systems, including familiarity with user-oriented online and offline data retrieval capabilities • Experience using statistical packages and Microsoft Suite Office software (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Familiarity with advanced crime analysis software • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others and work effectively with minimum supervision Security Requirements: Requires a Secret clearance See Qualifications / Requires Bachelor's degree in related discipline and two to four years of military/intelligence experience in threat studies and analysis threat/war doctrine and concepts and threat forces; threat analysis technology in such areas as telecommunications, computer science; electronic warfare and/or nuclear/biological/chemical warfare, including knowledge of DoD, service level (Army, Navy, Air Force) intelligence communities, military order of battle, chain of command and communications/information security, including collection methods and production resources and responsibilities.
