Job Description

Dulles Virginia Security Clearance: None / Not Required Raytheon Global Business Services (GBS) has an opening for a Facilities Building Technician at the Dulles Facility. Report to the Facilities Team Lead. Responsible for building heating, air-conditioning and ventilation systems.

Technician will also be responsible for installs, repairs, and maintains motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

Job Description:
  • Installation and service, including inspection, maintenance, repair and testing, of HVAC systems
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
  • Maintain required certification(s) for the proper handling and disposing of refrigerant and be responsible for maintaining refrigerant use records
  • Discuss heating-cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected
  • Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders
  • Recommend, develop, and perform preventive and general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing and vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, and changing filters
  • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
  • Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauges
  • Inspect and test system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions
  • Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, and flues
  • Fabricate, assemble and install duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment
  • Perform other miscellaneous facilities maintenance work as requested by Facilities leadership

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 8+ years of applicable experience as a technician
  • HVAC certification
  • Virginia State refrigerant handling/storage certification/license
  • Ability to work above ground (often at/on roof levels) and must be willing and able to work off a lift and/or ladder
  • Willing and able to work overhead with arms raised for extended periods of time.
  • Repeated bending, lifting, and able to lift 50 pounds
  • Computer skills to use email and document maintenance activities
  • Must be able to read blueprints, interpret design specifications, and manufacturer’s recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of these components
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in and maintaining commercial office buildings
  • Familiar with the use of a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to generate and complete work orders
  • Experience working in or with a Facilities maintenance team
  • Trade school for HVAC/Electrical/Mechanical
Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
