The Leidos Corporation is seeking a Technical Writer, Senior. The successful candidate will serve as a Technical Writer working on the United States Antarctic Program's (USAP) Information Technology and Communications (IT&C) Transition project. This project will extend the current USAP network and relocate work centers due to McMurdo Station construction. Candidate will work closely with other project team members and operations team members to achieve project requirements including:

Document current-state network, mobile and mission communications and media services architectures.
Creating and updating all project artifacts and deliverables.
Assist with development of network, mobile and mission communications and media services design documents to accommodate project activities.
Assist with development of implementation plans for project activities.
Assist with development of Concept of Operation documents for work centers impacted by project activities.
Provide document status updates to staff.
Candidate must be capable of document creation and revision, including preparing technical documents and planning documents for technology systems. Candidate maintains technical expertise in all areas of document creation, management, and curation.

Act as a Technical Writer for multiple projects.
Act as document liaison for all project stakeholders.
Support Operations and Maintenance document updates associated with the USAP network.
Isolate faults and diagnose system failures to resolve problems in a methodical, thorough, and timely manner.
Proactively look for methods to improve the efficiency and currency of all project documents.
Provide documentation for all project changes.
Maintain secure networking environments based on industry best practice security standards in conjunction with USAP policies.
Provide document support to IT for new deployments, enhancements, or modifications to IT systems, both on and off Ice.
Manage personal tasking as directed by IT management to ensure timely implementation or delivery of critical USAP documentation.
Provide technical expertise to other teams as required.
Excellent communication ability and the ability to work well with others in a diplomatic fashion is an essential skill.
Perform other duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications

Minimum of four years of previous experience required as a technical writer/editor or in a directly related technical field that includes documentation responsibilities.
Strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
In-depth knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, and document-control software and techniques required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, including the use, creation, and modification of built-in or user-created styles, is required.
Desired skills

Candidates with a technical or engineering background, familiar with the operation and maintenance of technology systems (applications, servers, network, and communications), and able to read and understand design drawings strongly preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates having relevant experience in an engineering discipline or as an architect or drafter.
Experience working with designers, engineers, and maintenance personnel highly desired.
*** Deployment to Antarctica may be required at the discretion of management (approximately 6 to 8 weeks / year). The individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. ***
Typical Minimums
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 6 years of professional experience; or 4 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree.
