Job Description

The Raytheon Indianapolis, IN, facility is searching for a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Support Specialist to join a growing team of engineering professionals who share a mission of protecting our war fighters and allies.

The Mechanical Engineering section within the Hardware Engineering Department has the responsibility to provide, develop, and maintain the mechanical design of all Intelligence and Information Services products in Indianapolis. In the role of CAE Support Specialist, the individual will be responsible for ensuring that the Mechanical Engineers have the properly configured tools and hardware to perform their duties and that they have the support needed to identify and resolve design tool issues.

Specific responsibilities within Mechanical Engineering include, but are not limited to: Developing expertise in various Mechanical Engineering tools, configuring, deploying and supporting engineering tools, coordinating with IT for Mechanical Engineering workstations, and interacting with internal and external Raytheon teams to support the alignment and configuration of Raytheon design tools.


Job Description and Key Tasks:

The CAE Support Specialist will be responsible for working with other Indianapolis support team members to configure, deploy, maintain, and support Raytheon’s mechanical design toolsets.

The CAE Support Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of modeling solutions, and on occasion conduct trade studies and analysis of other mechanical design tools.

The individual is expected to work in a team environment, receive inputs from his/her lead and provide guidance and/or direction to other team members on the Mechanical Engineering team. They are also expected to network with other Raytheon support team members across the organization to gain alignment.

The CAE Support Specialist will be expected to work on diverse projects and independently determine and develop approaches and solutions. The individual will be required to provide ME design tool support throughout product lifecycle, from initial concept to a fielded product.

Responsibilities include providing technical support for Mechanical CAD and Product Data Management (PDM) tools and providing training to new users or to existing users on new capabilities.


NOTE: This position can be a Salary Grade G06 or Salary Grade G07 based on education, experience and skillset.

Required Skills:
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor Degree with 0-2 years of related experience required
  • Desire to work with and support cutting edge computer aided design tools
  • Experience with at least one of the following 3D Parametric Modeling Tools: Creo Parametric, Solidworks, Autocad Inventor, Siemens NX
  • Experience coding in VB, C/C++ (or other high order language)
  • Experience using Windows based workstations and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Windows based computer hardware
  • Experience with Microsoft Office VB Scripting.
  • Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) tools
  • Ability to work well in a self-directed environment with minimal guidance
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well in teams and multi-task
  • Familiarity with and knowledgeable reading mechanical detail and assembly drawings
  • Previous DOD work experience
Required Education (including Major):

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline .
