Requires complete understanding and wide application of technical theories and concepts in the mechanical engineering field and related disciplines. Familiarity with the Solidworks CAD modeling tool and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods is strongly desired. Candidate will work only under general direction while determining and developing independent solutions to meet the overall design objectives. Position will require frequent communication and coordination with other engineering organizations as well as external customers.Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Mechanical design of components in pulsed power and high power microwave systems. Components include microwave tubes, vacuum systems, oil circulation, pressurized gas systems, control systems, and platform interfaces. Analysis of pulsed power and high power microwave system components. Types of analysis include predicting mechanical performance during shock/vibration, temperature, pressure, and humidity extremes.Verify the mechanical performance of components in pulsed power and high power microwave systems through testing and inspection.Required Education/Skills/Experience:Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing. Expertise in mechanical design, sub-systems packaging, thermal and structural analysis. Proficiency with CAD solids modeling tools and analysis tools and experience with tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing applications. Specific experience in high power microwave systems, pulsed power and HPM system experimentation and data analyses, diagnostic instrumentation and vacuum equipment.Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Existing Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.Desired Education/Skills:Master of Science Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or equivalentAbility to work independently and be a self-starterGood communicatorProven ability to lead technical engineering teamsDemonstrated success in project leadershipStrong written and oral communication skills including the ability to present material to customers.
