Job Description:Raytheon IIS Field Engineering ( IISFE ) is seekinga Manufacturing Engineer II at our depot level repair facility in Pittsfield, MA.The Manufacturing Engineer II (ME) will work within the Manufacturing and Engineering teams to develop, document, and qualify assembly and inspection procedures associated with highly complex electromechanical instruments and systems.The ME will plan production activities, disposition nonconforming hardware, and establish methodology for collection of performance metrics.Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Process Development - The ME, working with the Technical Data Package and engineering support from the design agent, will develop processes and identify the equipment needed to perform the work.
  • Equipment Selection - The ME will lead the identification, evaluation, selection, procurement, installation, and qualification of manufacturing and inspection equipment.
  • Process Documentation - The ME will generate assembly and inspection instructions for manufacturing processes associated with complex electromechanical instruments.
  • Training - The ME will develop training curriculum and deliver it in both hands-on and classroom applications.The ME will also develop methodology for proficiency testing that closely replicates production hardware.
  • Disposition of Hardware - The ME will evaluate defective hardware and offer repair recommendations in compliance with approved processes, drawings, and governing requirements.
  • Design Support - The ME will research and prepare Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for submittal to the customer and design agency.
  • Production Planning - The ME will be responsible for compiling failure records, defects, and design updates for the generation of detailed step by step route sheets to be used on the production floor.
  • Failure Analysis – The ME will perform Root Cause and Corrective Action investigation for nonconforming hardware; presenting results to peers and associated functional areas.
  • Trend Analysis - The ME will be responsible for compiling fault data for operator, process, or equipment faults as they relate to manufacturing operations.The ME will analyze the data and then present it graphically at periodic customer reviews.
  • The ME must be able to read and comprehend both electrical and mechanical drawings as well as possessing working knowledge of manufacturing principles, tooling, equipment, and materials.
  • The ME will be responsible for achieving specific Cost Improvement goals by utilizing Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.(DOH091417)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering function related to manufacturing, repair, or depot operations.

·Candidate must have strong communication skills, written and oral, and be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Required Education: 2 years with B.S./B.A. in a related technical field. 0 years with M.S./M.A. or PHD in a related technical field. Industry experience and/or formal technical training may be substituted for a degree.

Other Requirements (Clearance, travel):SECRET - existing clearance preferred. Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
