Job Title: University Programs: Manufacturing Engineer I

Job Description:
Early on this individual will have split responsibilities first in supporting the development of cost proposals for new business bids and improving that proposal process, and secondly in taking responsibility for manufacturing engineering functions for one or two products. The manufacturing engineering role includes, developing shop floor flows, work instructions, and tooling, and bills of materials. This role also includes support for the training of shop floor personnel on new methods and procedures and tooling. Key involvement in problem solving, including root cause analysis and corrective action determination and implementation. Key participant in design for manufacturing and design for cost activities. Manufacturing engineer will also provide input to tracking progress to budget, delivery, and quality with basic earned value metrics.

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

Required Skills:

  • Critical thinker with strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to be a team player with an understanding of other functions (i.e., design engineering, supply chain, manufacturing)
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding for how things go together to apply to complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new computer based tools
  • Knowledge of process analysis and efficiency mapping
  • Hands on engineering experience shown through internships
  • Understanding of shop floor management systems
  • Experience working in a clean room

Required Education: Must have a BS / BA from an ABET accredited university with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related field by Summer 2018 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.
