Job Description

Raytheon is seeking a Cloud / DevOps Engineer that will be leading the way of automating our traditional, manual IT processes and transforming them into cloud-like services that are ready to be consumed by our internal business partners.

Key Responsibilities of the Cloud / DevOps Engineer
The candidate’s roles and responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop automation capabilities to streamline technical processes and improve efficiencies
  • Develop automation scripts to deliver the various capabilities in a consistent and timely manner
  • Design and deploy software-as-a-service capabilities for local and remote site consumption (office productivity apps, engineering tools, etc.)
  • Design and deploy infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) capabilities for business partner consumption
  • Develop internal cloud & automation expertise & be a cloud evangelist
  • Apply standard architectures to meet business requirements
  • Install, configure and maintain an automation platform
  • Plan for capacity, performance, and service availability of all cloud resources
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior system administrators
  • Partner with IT Architects, application/project/security teams and vendors to plan, design, and implement new IT infrastructure
  • Perform data center system administration including, but not limiting to: daily operations support; the maintenance of physical servers, virtual servers, SAN/NAS; DNS and DHCP; patching of operating systems and applications; messaging, backups, and monitoring

Required qualifications of the Cloud / DevOps Engineer:

  • U.S. Citizenship status
  • Ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance
  • Minimum 5 years of infrastructure experience
  • Expertise in the following:
    • Orchestration and automation product(s) such as Puppet, Chef and Ansible
    • Scripting languages such as Ruby, Perl, Erlang, Python, and Microsoft PowerShell
    • Configuration management via infrastructure automation
    • Cloud-based solutions (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS)
    • Cloud concepts and approaches (Private, public, hybrid, etc.)
    • Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Experience in the following:
    • Vendor cloud solutions (eg. Amazon AWS, Azure, Office365)
    • HP hardware (workstations, servers & storage)
    • Storage technologies such as SAN and NAS, Fiber,
    • Security best practices and use of encryption, firewalls, and permissions
    • Application packaging and software deployment tool(s)
    • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
    • VMware vSphere and vCenter
    • DNS and DHCP
    • Apache and IIS webservers
    • Backups and disaster recovery
    • Infrastructure security products (e.g. Antivirus, patching)
  • Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and in collaborative teams
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication

Desired qualifications of the Cloud / DevOps Engineer:

  • Experience in the following:
    • Containers for operating system virtualization
    • Understanding of common security products (Splunk, Lumension, etc.)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • AWS-CSA Professional, CompTIA Cloud+ or other industry standard cloud certifications

Required Education of the Cloud / DevOps Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) or related fields of study

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
The Cloud / DevOps engineer must have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance as they will be responsible for automating & administering systems that contain classified data.
