The SDC is seeking Radio Frequency (RF) Systems Engineers to provide Systems Engineering Leadership for total Systems Engineering life cycle product development and Systems Engineering design expertise for complex systems employing RF technology in various stages of the product life cycle.The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for: leading the effort for system requirements development, requirement allocation and flow down, system design, system verification & validation and associated documentation; working with the program technical lead and across all disciplines to ensure requirements are appropriately factored into all trade studies and design decisions; developing design of experiments based plans to verify improved capability; driving the coordinated effort for SRR, SFR, PDR and CDR or similar requirements and design reviews.Extensive interface with customer is required.Ability and comfort presenting to audiences at various levels is also expected.The Senior Systems Engineer will frequently interact with multidisciplinary teams of system and design professionals including RF electrical, other electrical, mechanical, software, system performance, integration, test, and specialty engineers, as well as supply chain, operations, and quality.

NOTE: This position can be a Salary Grade G08 (Sr. Systems Engineer I) or a Salary Grade G09 (Sr. Systems Engineer II) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.An Interim Clearance is required to start

BS in Engineering, Math, or Physics

Four (4) years of systems engineering or related experience with exposure to more than one of the following lifecycle phases: subsystem or system architecture development, requirements analysis and development; system performance analysis; integration and verification; production support

Three (3) years of applied technical work experience in architectural, systems design, and integration of RF systems in one of the following engineering disciplines:Systems; Electrical; Software; Signal Processing; or Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis

Specific experience in the design and integration of RF systems falling into at least one of the following RF technology areas:Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs), Transceivers, and/or RF apertures

One (1) year of experience giving technical briefs or presentations after synthesizing or generating technical materials from multidisciplinary sources

Desired Education, Experience and Skills:

MS or higher in aforementioned disciplines preferred

Familiarity and interest in Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, Lean, etc.)

Familiarity and interest in model based approaches to system design, including SysML, Matlab and/or C++ experience

Ability to visualize system functionality, to create accurate system models, and to analyze system performance

Ability to logically analyze issues and define solutions

Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance

Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure with respect to command and control, telemetry, flight test, ISR, fixed wing, and/or rotary wing systems

Experience in writing proposals and developing business cases


This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
