Job Description

Location: McKinney Texas Security Clearance: Secret - Current The ISRS Mission Area in Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems, seeks a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to provide technical support and expertise for the ABM (Advanced Battle Management) team. The position will reside in the System Engineering Integration & Test Center (SEIT) within the Surveillance Radar Development department. This systems engineer will work amongst other Systems Engineers and will support the chief engineer, and lead systems engineer.

Job Related Activities:
  • Leading integration and test activities on AWACS aircraft.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor other engineers to successfully integrate new avionics onto the AWACS aircraft
  • Lead dialog with Leadership and/or customers to elicit objectives and requirements and resolve technical issues
  • Conduct or participate in customer reviews and program technical reviews
  • Ensure the consistent application of engineering best practices and all activities undertaken under your control are conducted to common standards in accordance with Raytheon's IPDS processes
  • Using Raytheon 6 Sigma proactively to foster a culture of continuous process improvement


Required Skills: (Make as explicit as possible. These should not contain comparative or non-objective skills.)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering, Systems, Electrical or Software
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in integrating systems for military aircraft
  • Experience with any of the following: developing block diagrams, electrical schematics, wire harness drawings, bills of material, weight and balance reports, electrical load analysis, and system safety hazard analysis reports
  • Hands on experience integrating avionics or mission equipment on DoD aircraft
  • Experience designing and documenting electrical, mechanical, and environmental interfaces
  • Experience writing statements of work and system specifications
  • Experience with writing proposal volumes
  • Experience working with both customer and internal resources
  • Experience developing integration and test plans
  • Excellent executive-level written and verbal communication skills;
  • Deep understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycles and demonstrable application of relevant methodologies and toolsets;
  • Experience working airworthiness certification process with DoD customers
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to access to US only data systems
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Skills: (Can be comparative and subjective (if non-discriminatory). Need not be explicit and should not contain must haves, or required skills.) Experience with rotary wing aircraft
  • Previously supported integration and test of a sensor (RF, EOIR, ISR, etc) installed on an AWACS or Joint STARS aircraft
  • Experience with DOORS
  • Experience in writing ICDS and IDDs
  • Experience with OSA (open systems architecture)
  • Experience with model based engineering in an architecture context
  • Experience writing tech volumes, bidding, or generating basis of estimate documentation
  • Conduct aircraft site surveys to develop integration alternatives
  • Experience integrating new electronics in laboratories, on aircraft, and in flight
  • Experience writing project plans
  • Hands on experience supporting integration activities like installation, system checkout, EMI/EMC testing, ground test and flight test

B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Related discipline;

* Desired Education:
M.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Related discipline
