The Advanced Test Systems Engineering Center (ATSEC), within the Systems Test Directorate, is comprised of five departments and an engineering population of approximately 450+ employees, and produces over $300M+/year of delivered products. The ATSEC organization has the responsibility to grow and sustain the Systems Engineering competencies throughout all test activities, and to make test more affordable, credible, agile, and robust.

Within ATSEC, the Advanced Test Operations & Environments (ATO&E) Department has the direct responsibility for the compliance of engineering labs doctrine, environmental test, inert measurement vehicles, and flight operations for manned and unmanned vehicles.

NOTE: This position can be a Sr Systems Engineer I or Sr Systems Engineer II based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Job Description:
Candidates will be interviewing for a Test Engineer position within the (ATO&E) Department and will be responsible for the following; design of vibration fixtures, over-site of tests such as vibration, shock, quartz lamp, thermal, structural, and modal. In this capacity the candidate needs to possess an extensive knowledge of testing, specifications and test methodology.

Environmental Test is an engineering organization that supports all engineering programs across Raytheon Missile Systems. The organization’s primary objective is to provide the following services:

Conduct Vibration testing to validate models, qualification, lot acceptance testing (LAT), flight termination, engineering evaluations and failure review board.

Conduct Thermal/Altitude/Humidity testing to validate models, qualification, LAT, flight termination, engineering evaluations and failure review board.

Conduct Structural testing to validate models and ensure safety margins.

Conduct Aero-Thermal Heating testing using Quartz Lamps. Test simulates heating environment during flight.

The ideal candidate is a motivated hands-on, self-starter who cheerfully accepts work assignments and diligently drives to complete them. They are creative and innovative, possessing coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Design, model and analyze vibration fixtures for various programs

Train team members and other support personnel in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Environmental Test assets such as shakers and thermal chambers

Assist in creating schedules and budget estimates

Implement engineering best practices to insure tests are being run correctly

The candidate will work in a Multi-Program Closed Area

Safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware and documentation

Required Skills:

U.S. Citizenship is required

A minimum of four (4) years professional engineering experience working with mechanical hardware and electrical instruments

Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft office tools including: MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Proficient working knowledge of Vibration controller software

Must be eligible for, or have active, DoD SECRET security clearance.

Extensive knowledge working with data acquisition systems and sensors, such as accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, strain gauges and load cells
Required: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

High situational awareness and ability to effectively work multiple projects simultaneously

Good communication and teaming skills to work with diverse groups and customers

Hands on mechanical background

Experience working with instrumentation, signal conditioners, and data acquisition systems.

Experience with National Instruments Labview

Experience using MATLAB and PSD analysis

Technical writing experience

Experience with PTC CREO drawing application

Experience with ANSYS workbench

Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree.
ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
