Job Description

The Whole Life Systems directorate disciplines of Configuration Management, Data Management, System Reliability, Software Configuration Management, System Support, System Sustainment and System Safety are responsible to provide analyses, analytics, design guidance, documentation, requirements, support equipment, training, production support, field support and field support representatives throughout the entire product’s life-cycle.

The Whole Life Systems Directorate is seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to fulfill the position of Program Area Lead (PAL) and Technology Innovation Lead (TIL). The candidate would be responsible to engage with programs within product lines to provide technical leadership on a case by case basis to ensure the success of Whole Life Systems and the product line. The PAL role is fast paced, exciting and rewarding. PALs have frequent interaction with engineering leadership which provides opportunities to become an influential member of the engineering community. As the Technology Innovation Lead, the candidate would be responsible for pursuit, development and application of technologies for Whole Life system support and sustainment. They would also be responsible for coordination, development and management of technology innovation projects for the directorate leadership. The Technology Innovation Lead will have frequent interaction with the leadership of the directorate as well as the staff as they perform their duties. These responsibilities will have a significant impact on the directorate in particular and missile systems as a whole.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identification and exploitation of synergies across programs and across the Enterprise
  • Providing accurate and timely status reports to the Program and Engineering organizations
  • Implementing processes and procedures across programs that ensure consistency within the organization
  • Supporting program gate reviews
  • Liaising between WLSE leadership and Product Line Chief Engineers and program managers
  • Preparing and presenting program issues at internal program reviews
  • Resolving issues on production lines and in testing (including suppliers)
  • Engaging in failure analysis / root cause determination and corrective action implementation of program issues as required

Required Skills:
  • Must be a US Citizen and hold and maintain an active DoD SECRET/TOP SECRET Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines
  • Knowledgeable in the hardware lifecycle from requirements definition and architecture development through integration and verification, production, support and sustainment
  • Leadership of small technical teams, including technical oversight and direction, cost estimation, tracking & reporting, coordination and preparation of detailed technical team reports
  • Experience working with suppliers in technical and/or programmatic oversight role.
  • Experience with leading/supporting process & product Improvement activities and working directly with senior level leadership teams and Program Directors

Education:
  • BS in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics; Master’s degree preferred (ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard)
