The Mechanical Subsystem Directorate is seeking a CAD Drafter/Designer in the Mechanical Design Integrity Department. The candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks in support of the engineering and manufacturing organizations. They will solve routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures with minimal direction or supervision. The CAD Drafter/Designer will use Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems to prepare mechanical design layouts, detail and assembly drawings and models (including but not limited to packaging, mechanisms, and castings) and related documentation in conformance to appropriate program and/or military specifications.
Note: This position can be Salary Grade G06 (Technical Support Engineer I) or Salary Grade G07 (Technical Support Engineer II) based upon the applicant’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, leadership, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.
Candidate will have knowledge of basic principles, theories and concepts for creation and preparation of engineering design documentation
Candidate will have knowledge of industry practices and standards used in drafting, modeling and design development/revision
Candidate should be able to identify model or drawing errors, omissions and other deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
Candidate will have knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Extensive knowledge of CREO Parametric (Pro/Engineer) solid modeling CAD tool and considerable knowledge of Windchill product data management (PDM) tool
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Bachelor Degree in a related field
Mechanical design experience may include areas such as electrical/mechanical packaging, harnessing, structures, cabling, surfacing and mechanisms
Experience using documentation specifications such as MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100
Knowledge of Raytheon Drafting Standards, Mechanical Engineering Process for documentation preparation
Working knowledge of RMS processes and procedures
Experience with machine shop tools
Existing DoD Secret clearance
Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently
Effective oral and written communication skills / good communicator
