Location: MONTGOMERY AL US 36136 Description:
Leidos is currently seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to step into a Junior Technical Management type role which will utilize existing and further develop your leadership capabilities. The customer is the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and acts as the provider of GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. DISA is also responsible for the Joint Regional Security Stack implementation (JRSS), including integration, testing and configuration of the stacks, migration of the traffic and development of the management system.
The JRSS program is responsible for the complete modernization of the DOD global network with enhanced capabilities using the latest and greatest technologies. On this program you will have access to the enterprise technologies implemented on a world-wide scale that will challenge your abilities and grow your skills as a network engineer.
In this role youwill be responsible for theoverall oversight of a community of interest within DISA's Joint Regional Security Stacks (JRSS)to prepare that Community of Interest (COI) for migration. You will:
  • Orchestrate the project end-to-end
  • Analyze discovery information and determines requirements for migration; Provides gap analysis at the start of the project; Directs team members and reviews results
  • De-conflict inconsistencies between engineering implementation plans (EIPs ) and directs changes to EIP authors
  • Maintain current network diagram for COI/Base (end-to-end)
  • Controls all variables and allocations e.g. IP Addresses, VLANs, VRFs, shims, process IDs, etc.
  • Define migration requirements to Tools and CND teams, this includes acceptable deadlines tracked by PM
  • Track task status against ASI schedule and adjusts implementations as required.
Junior Managerial Responsibilities:
In additional daily technical responsibilities as a junior manager you will be responsible for the following tasks for up to 10 Leidos employees located in the Montgomery areas:
  • Keep management aware of local issues that could have impacts to both the program and/or Leidos.
  • Take on management tasks to address Leidos/program issues
  • Approve timecards on a weekly basis, as primary or backup timecard approver.
  • Provide inputs to yearly performance appraisals
  • Assist in Hiring, on-boarding and off-boarding of new employees
  • Provide inputs to Leidos corporate deliverables as required.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience.
Required Experience
  • Mastery in the following areas:
    • MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching)
    • BGP routing. (Border Gateway Protocol)
    • OSPF Routing (Open Shortest Path First)
    • Site-2-Site Implementation
    • DMVPN (Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network)
    • Experienced with in-depth protocol analysis with tools such as tcpdump.
    • Extensive troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in leading large engineering projects.
  • Leadership skills in organizing a team of engineers
  • Direct experience with:
    • F5 load balancers
    • Palo Alto Firewalls
    • Cisco ASA Firewalls
    • Cisco ASRs
    • 802.1x
  • DoD 8570 IAT2 certification
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret Security clearance
