Job Title: Systems Administrator Job ID: CHQ20182607-26177 Location: Rochester, NY Job Description: System Administrator with emphasis in hardware configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Support for open network systems as well as in multiple secure/closed areas located in Rochester, NY Responsible for the configuration, installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of end user computing devices, including Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems, network equipment, and/or telecommunications equipment in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. The infrastructure consists of virtual and physical servers supporting a variety of projects ranging from development to high-availability environments. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Familiarity with data center design and configuration, such as HVAC, UPS, and facilities management. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines. Knowledge of networking associated with a LAN based server and workstations. Communicate with a variety of hardware and software vendors to receive quotes and resolve infrastructure challenges. Ability to effectively communicate and work within a diverse management environment. Provide after hours and weekend on-call support as needed. Travel to multiple locations within the Rochester area. May require carrying and lifting tool kit/parts of varying weights (1- 50 lbs.); May require bending/squatting, walking/standing/sitting for prolonged periods; Exposure to enclosed spaces, dust, drafts, and damp areas; Must be able to work at heights up to 10-15’ using a ladder. Qualifications: Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, or related disciplines with 3+ years of Systems Administrator experience. Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Valid driver’s license Preferred Additional Skills: Reasonably familiar/fluent with Unix, Linux, Windows server OS. System administration experience in Solaris. Comfortable with UNIX command line. Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electrical components. Mechanical aptitude and skilled in the use of hand and power tools. Experience preparing and presenting technical briefings and white papers. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms. Ability to prepare and present technical documents and presentations to employees and customers. Self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to learn new technologies and execute tasks with moderate guidance. Ability to be very detail oriented and interact with a wide range of individuals and levels of management. Customer focus and understand customer’s sense of urgency. Dependable team player.
